End hunger fast day

DAY OF PRAYER AND FASTING in solidarity with the half a million people in the UK who needed help from food banks in the past year. Friday April 4th. Part of the End Hunger Fast campaign:

endhungerfast.co.uk/ follow on twitter: #fastapril4th

* Pray –
God of mercy and of plenty,
your Son fasted in the wilderness
and shared food with the people in a desert place: give us courage to resist the injustices around us, the will to end the hunger that shames our society and a share in your vision for a new world
where all shall have a place at the table of the feast; through Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life.

There will be a near-silent Eucharist at 6.30pm to end the day in thoughtful worship and prayer.

* Fast –
for the whole day, or miss a meal. Pledging to join the fast (forms at the back of church) helps to call on the government to act to improve the situation.

* Act –
The church will be open from 4-6.30pm to receive donations of items for the food bank.

How long can she last?

Linzee Perry has (bravely) committed to giving up alcohol (communion wine excepted) during Lent.  However, she has freely stated that she is sure to fail.  To help raise funds for the Wolverhampton Food Bank and the Sycamore Tree Project in a local prison, Linzee has challenged us to guess when she will lapse from her abstinence!  At just 50p per go, you can pick a date from the chart at the back of church.  There will be a prize for the winner!
