Prayer for the NHS

A prayer for the NHS written by Des Halestrap.

Thank you ,O God
For all the people who have looked after us
For the kindnesses and support of strangers

For sleep the great healer of mind and body
Help all those who lie awake tonight, give them the balm of you blessed care

Into your strong hands we place all the patients in hospital, and their loved ones.
The staff during the day and the night staff on duty tonight, always there always present
Send your healing presence o Lord we pray

We ask for your precence in our own Pendeford Health Centre and in the Nelson Mandela unit
We ask in the name of your beloved son Jesus Christ Amen

church picnic

Just a reminder to everyone that this Sunday, 23rd June is our church picnic to Bantock Park meeting at 2pm.

There is plenty for everyone to do including looking around the house for free and the pitch and putt.  Just bring along food and drink to share and a rug to sit on.

There is a free car park or you can get the number 3 and 4 bus.

We look forward to seeing you there.

St. Paul’s Theatre Group

Our next theatre trip will be to The Arena Theatre on Thursday, 11th July at 7.30pm to see The King’s CE School production of The Odyssey. We have previously enjoyed their portrayals that include exhilarating drama, dance, art and music in this re-telling of Homer’s epic tale of Odysseus’s voyage home after the fall of Troy. We will visit strange lands, meet gods and monsters and follow Odysseus and his madcap crew on their very, very, very long journey home.

christian aid week

Many thanks to all who have helped in any way towards the events and
activities in Christian Aid week! A special thanks to all who have
helped in collecting envelopes. cooking the Church Tea on Sunday 12th May
(especially Linzee, Jo and Hannah) and making cakes for the cakes stall
(and to Laura and Amias for helping run the stall. The stall raised
£69.95, which was brilliant!)

If you haven’t yet handed back your red bag of collected and unused
envelopes, please pass them to me in church or if you are
unable to get them to me, I can collect the bag from you at a time to

As soon as I have the final total collected over the various events of
the week, I will put another message on the blog. I also hope to arrange
a thank you lunch like last year but need to recover first…!

Love and best wishes
