3 peaks challenge update

Congratulations to all who were involved in the “3 Peaks 4 Tom” challenge (see the blog entry for 28th May 2012 for more information).  Not everyone completed all three peaks, but the plan is to go back and finish them in the near future.

If you offered sponsorship and haven’t yet given your money to Bridget, please do so as soon as possible.

Below are some photos of the intrepid adventurers (and the 3 drivers tucking into a well-earned meal!).

Prayer for the Week (with a treasure hunt theme?!?)

Des Halestrap has recently made an interesting discovery.  Robert Louis Stevenson, the writer of “Treasure Island” was also a writer of prayers!  Feeling that this was highly appropriate, as we approach our own Great All-Age Treasure Hunt, Des has suggested one of Stevenson’s prayers for us to consider…

Lord, behold our family here assembled.
We thank you for this place in which we dwell,
for the love which unites us,
for the peace accorded us this day,
for the hope with which we expect the morrow,
for the health, the work, the food ,and the bright skies that make our lives delightful,
for our friends in all parts of the world.

If you have a prayer you would like to share on the blog (perhaps one you have found particularly helpful lately, or one you have written yourself), let us know.  Contact Rich Cresswell with your offerings.

Our thirst needs you!

An important part of our Sunday morning worship is the tea and coffee afterwards!  We are in need of more people to help with serving refreshments after our Sunday services.  This involves bringing milk, setting up, serving drinks and clearing away afterwards.

If you are willing to be part of our ‘hospitality team’, please speak to Chris May or Jim.

The Great All-Age Treasure Hunt

Sunday 8th July is only a few weeks away now, so get your tickets now. £3 for adults, £2 for under 16s (includes a free hot dog at the finish).

For those with a poor sense of direction, fear not!  Maps to find your way to the finish will be provided.

Speak to Geoff Cresswell for more information.

Simon Douglas’ first Eucharist

Simon, who is curate in this parish, will be ordained priest this Sunday morning (24th June) alongside Richard Merrick and Jeff Leach (who many will remember as members of the Saint Paul’s family).

Simon will be presiding over his first Eucharist on Sunday evening, 6:00pm at Saint Michael’s.  All are welcome to attend (there will be a service without communion at Saint Paul’s in the morning).
After the 6:00pm service, there will be a bring and share party at Saint Michael’s School.
