Three Peaks Challenge in memory of Tom Ellick

Martin, Owen and Rebecca Day are leading a team of 18 young mean and women in the “National 3 Peaks Challenge” in memory of Tom Ellick.  Tom was a hugely popular member of Saint Paul’s Church before his sad death in December 2010.

The aim of the team is to raise funds for Broadmeadow Special School, which Tom used to attend.  The money will go towards a new playground.

The challenge is taking place over June 20th-21st, with the aim being to climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours.  It will be a real challenge and Owen, Tom and Rebecca would warmly welcome any sponsorship or messages of support.

To sponsor, you can either go to the above website and follow the links, visit the alternative website ( or speak to Bridget Campbell who has a sponsor form.

Renewal day

If you weren’t at church on Sunday, you may not be aware that the Renewal day (planned for this Sunday) has been cancelled.
The 10:30am communion service celebrating Pentecost will, of course, still happen.

Apologies to those who were looking forward to this day.

Pentecost – a Day of Renewal

“And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” [Acts 2:21]

On Pentecost Sunday(27th May), in addition to our regular Sunday morning service, there will be lots more opportunity for fellowship, fun and learning together, throughout the day.

• Come early for breakfast before the service!
• Bring-and-share lunch after the service
• Exploring the story of Pentecost in a variety of ways, including drama, Facebook (yes, really!), storytelling, Bible study and craft.
• Something for all ages.
• Bring a passport-sized photo of yourself or a small picture of your whole family (all will be explained on the day).

You are welcome to attend the whole event or for as much of the day as you are able.

Oasis re-opens today!

Saint Paul’s Church is delighted to be celebrating the re-opening of the Oasis café today.

Open from 8:45am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday, the Oasis will be serving hot and cold food, including some fantastic sausage, egg and bacon butties!

Please pray for Sam (the café manager) as she begins this new project.  Just as importantly, please support the Oasis as a customer and by encouraging your friends, family and neighbours to use the café.

Christian Aid – service and collecting

The Churches together service for Christian Aid Week is next Sunday (13th May) at 6:30pm. Come along to hear more about the work of Christian Aid, thank God for this wonderful charity and ask His blessing on all our fundraising efforts in the week ahead.
