Oasis to re-open as a café!

We are delighted to announce that the Oasis is set to re-open as a café, hopefully from early December.

To help get the place looking ship-shape, there will be a working day (including cleaning and painting) on Sat 30th October, 10am-4pm.  If you’re able to help, just turn up on the day, or let Val Morgan know in advance.

I am proud that God has called me to help with the rebirth of The Oasis. It is fair to say that formidable challenges lie ahead. This week I was made aware of the current state of play. It is essential that all involved understand the backdrop to our endeavours. There is going to be appreciably less money around in the coming years. At the same time it is absolutely crucial that the reborn Oasis maintains itself,in short,we must make money!

Obviously we must do this without compromising our ethical vision. This will mean depending heavilly, upon the goodwill of all volunteers. To begin this process we are looking to undertake a survey of the local business and residential communities. The aim will be to gather first hand feedback indicating how the Local community would like to be served. This is always preferable to acting on hunches.I am hoping that this will be completed by mid November.

The aim then would then to be to pull together a plan. This will act as a vision and provide a template against which we plan the required activity. This timescale is tight to say the least but the prize will be great. The Oasis could provide a great asset to St Pauls and the community it exists to serve.Let it become a haven where the good news as well as warm drink and fellowship are always to be found. I will with the grace of God,do all I can to bring this to reality.
